Health Care and Insurance

Medical care in the United States is very expensive. International students attending SMC are therefore mandated to purchase a comprehensive medical insurance policy through SMC. This policy is underwritten by Nationwide Life Insurance Company, and is paid for by each student at the time of enrollment. Under this policy, each student must first visit SMC뭩 Health Center to receive a referral for further treatment. A representative from the insurance company is available to meet with students, by appointment, three days a week at the International Education Counseling Center (IECC).

미국 현지에서 보험 신규 가입시 1개월간의 면책기간이 있습니다.. 미국 현지 에서 가입을 하실 경우에는 1개월 전에 가입하셔야 합니다. (보험 가입을 2010. 5. 10 하셨더라도 보험 시작은 2010. 6. 10부터 적용이 됩니다. 한국에서 가입하시면 바로 적용이 됩니다.)

보상하지 않는 손해

   1. 기왕증(보험가입 이전에 가지고 있던 질환이나 신체적 장애의 치료 및 검사를 목적으로 발생한 비용) 
   2. 임신, 출산과 관련된 비용
   3. 단순 건강 검사를 목적으로 하는 비용(시력 검사 및 건강 검진) 
   4 .예방접종비용 (학교 입학시 Immunization 포함) 

5. 정신과 질환/행동장애

6. HIV(에이즈)

7. 비뇨기계장애(요로결석)

8. 비뇨기과 질환중N39 또는 요실금
